RICK GEORGE - Secretary
Troy, Wallowa County, OR
Rick George is honored to serve the Board of Directors of Pacific Rivers. He co-founded in 1987 the original river protection organization – the Oregon River Council - and served as its first executive director. After working with the late Oregon Senator Mark Hatfield and Oregon Congressman Les AuCoin in 1988 to successfully pass the Oregon Omnibus Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, Rick worked for Oregon Tribal Governments to protect and restore their treaty-protected natural resources and rights. After growing up and spending most of his life in La Grande in Northeastern Oregon, Rick retired from a 30+ year career with the tribes and now resides on long-time family property in Troy, Oregon. Living alongside two of Wallowa County’s wild and scenic rivers – the Wenaha and Grande Ronde - he is privileged to call this special place home. Rick continues to raft, hike and fish and hunt in the rugged Grande Ronde River Canyon.
